A financial professional who has expertise in evaluating investments and puts together “buy”, “sell” or “hold” recommendations for securities. They may be also known as a “financial analyst” or a “security analyst”. Analysts are typically employed by broking firms, investment advisors or mutual funds. They do the leg work for brokers, preparing the research they use for trading.
